Winter 2024-2025 Girls Field Hockey Information
TRYOUTS ARE December 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 3:00p.m.-4:30p.m. for all days.
Tryouts will take place on the field at your child’s school. Girls will go directly to the field after class.
What to wear:
Athletes can wear athletic attire to tryouts and practices, no special clothing is necessary. For games, your athlete will wear the supplied jersey.
How do I find out if my player made the team?:
Girls Field Hockey is a cut sport. We take up to two teams of 18-20 players which are based on skill and assessment not grade. Players from either grade may make either team. Final rosters will be posted on https://bgcathletics.org/big8/ under your child’s school tab on Friday evening (after 6p.m.). Once rosters are posted, we automatically bill team members. There are no refunds once the rosters are posted. If for some reason your athlete is no longer interest in participating, please email efroelich@bgcsandieguito.org by Thursday to ensure they do not receive a spot on the team and you are not billed. EVEN IF YOUR ATHLETE DOES NOT ATTEND TRYOUTS- you must email to confirm they are not interested to ensure that they are not placed on the team and billed.
Remember, there is no fee to tryout. If your student does not make the team, you will not be charged. Be sure to select the “Pay on Custom Date” option at check out to ensure you are not charged at the time of registration.
What to expect after tryouts:
For those that make the team practices will continue Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, from 3:00p.m.-4:30p.m. on the field at school.
Games Tuesdays and Thursdays after a few weeks of practice and will start at 4pm and 5pm. Once tryouts have concluded and we have confirmed the total number of teams, we will post the official game schedule. Last year’s schedules are available under the schedule tab for informational purposes.
On game days, athletes only have a game, no practice.
Transportation is not provided by BGC. Getting athletes to and from practices and games is the responsibility of parents.
Jerseys Jerseys are included in the total program fee and are in adult sizes. Once the season is over, the jersey is yours to keep.
CAMPUS CLOSURES & HOLIDAYS
We follow the school calendar. Whenever there is a school closure or holiday break, we are also on break. Ex- we do not run during winter break.
RAIN & WEATHER
Our executive director will assess the fields on rainy days or days directly proceeding bad weather and make the call by noon as to whether or not practice is on. Notifications for cancellations will come via email between 12p.m.-12:30p.m. on those days.
